“Do not take life too seriously. You will never make it out alive.”-Elbert Hubbard
Weekly picks sheet below. Certainly not my favorite week of games, but these are the few that I think are interesting. I made this list before Week 7 kicked anticipating the lines to favor my way of thinking in at least 3 of these, but I am disappointed to see that the lines in those 3 are completely wonky and not in the good way. Wonky lines usually mean wins in my experience, especially this season. Some lines have been so funky you’d think Marky Mark was setting them with his “Good Vibrations” or George Clinton with his unique rainbow flow.
Either way, football is still fun, so let’s watch what we can when we can. It’s still 4 months until the post-Super Bowl depression sets in for Pigskin fans, so plenty of football is still in our near future. However, we should never take for granted the entertainment provided for us, so let’s enjoy this week.
Post SB February will bring along MLB Spring Training, fast cars at Daytona, the end of the pointless college basketball regular season, and if you are into that sort of thing, the NBA will be on nightly. Although, the latter is about the most unwatchable sport on TV these days. Call me old. Call me grumpy. I care not. This sport has ruined itself and lost me and some other former ‘diehard’ fans along the way. I’m ashamed to admit how much love and passion I put towards the NBA and my former favorite team that is not worth mentioning anymore. As you know, there are only two sports teams that I still have any fandom towards, and that fandom is from a safe distance. The St. Louis Cardinals and the Hometown Tigers run too deep into my blood, and I will always root for them when I see them on TV. Moving on.
Arsenal will still be playing in the Premier League at that point and that will remain must watch, but I’ll save my praise for the Gunners and the Premier League for another post. Wrong ‘football’ for this crowd.
Onto the real American Football. There is some Friday Night action that matters if you have the time. I’m not a fan of these Friday night games featuring teams that I’d like to see. Oregon @ Purdue 8:00 and Oklahoma St @ Brigham Young 10:15 are the only two games that matter between the 11 games scheduled either Thursday or Friday. Oregon will pummel Purdue and most likely not let them score 14 and Brigham at Night always entertains. However, I will only put a Friday Night pick on the sheet if it’s a dead lock, and I’ve only seen one this year.
Without further delay, this is the sheet I’ll be picking this week.
