Mid-afternoon and still cold and raining. Hot honey drinks warm the belly. The football has been phenomenal.
Currently, UCLA is physically dominating Penn St in every area. UCLA is playing with passion and hitting harder than the visiting Nittany Lions expected and hold a three point lead. The tens and tens–maybe even hundreds and hundreds of UCLA football fans inside the Rose Bowl are getting to watch a team play with excellent effort for the first time this season.
Interim Head Coach Tim Skipper has helped this team find itself and at least put forth good effort on each play.
“Every play matters–energy and passion. Every Play. We just have to get to 1-0.” Head Coach Tim Skipper said to Jenny Taft at the end of the 1st Quarter.
Another story coming out of this game; besides the fact that winless UCLA are beating #7 Penn St is that UCLA has hired a new play caller. Thirty-three-year-old Jerry Neuheisel is calling plays for the first time ever in this game. The former UCLA QB had been a Grad Assistant for UCLA since 2018. In his first drive ever calling plays, the Bruins marched straight down the field for a touchdown. Penn St is on their heels early in this one.
WHAT ELSE?
Unbeaten Maryland is up 10-0 on Washington, Florida is up 10-0 on Texas, and SMU is up 10-0 on Syracuse. Georgia won, so did Baylor, Michigan, and Pitt.
It’s still early in the afternoon games.
-BYU is still undefeated after their late-night win over West Virginia. The Cougar QB Bachmeier tallied 400 yards and two total touchdowns.
-Liverpool lost to Chelsea 2-1 on a 96th minute miracle by the Blues. Arsenal sit alone at the top of the Premier League and will until at least October 18th when they play again.
Touchdown UCLA. 17-7 over Penn St so far. It’s difficult to tell which team is winless and which is a top 10 team. The team in powder blue and canary yellow are outplaying and outhustling the team in painter white.
-It’s a perfect football day. Alabama is down 7-0 to Vandy early in the second quarter.
