- 7-1 Georgia @ 5-4 Miss St NOON ESPN
Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field will be the site for this matchup that is garnering National attention. Near perfect weather is predicted Saturday in Starkville adding to the reasons that this is a game that a fan of either team should not miss.
Overperforming their preseason expectations, the home team will be looking to upset the top5 perennial powerhouse and become bowl eligible for the first time since 2022 when Mike Leach notched nine wins, but doing so will not be easy.

I’ve spotted Four Home Dawgs and Four Road Dawgs to watch for in this game. Four players on each that could be the reason their team comes away victorious. AND–no, one of them is not Gunner Stockton. It’s very clear that this site loves QB Gunner Stockton and I’ve left him off to not sound redundant, but yes–Georgia also have Gunner Stockton playing elite at the moment.
FOUR ROAD DAWGS
- DB Daylen Everette
- DB Ellis Robinson IV
- LB CJ Allen: 5.5 TFL, 3 Sacks
- LB Chris Cole: 4 TFL, 3 Sacks
You’ll notice that all four play defense. I’ll explain in a moment why I haven’t spotlighted the offense.
FOUR HOME DAWGS
- WR Anthony Evans: 52 REC for 653 Yards and 4 TD
- Former Georgia Dawg playing for the first time against his former team.
- WR Brenen Thompson: 725 yards and 7 TD
- RB Davon Booth: 618, 9 TD
- Utah St Transfer
- QB Blake Shapen: 65% completion rate, 15 TD, 6 INT
Four offensive players for the home side and four defensive players for the away side. I’ve set it up this way because I believe that if Mississippi St can’t score with regularity, they will lose because Miss St will not stop this UGA offense with any consistency. It will be up to the home team’s offense, which ranks 38th nationally, to keep up with the visiting Dawgs.
In my opinion, it needs to be expected that UGA scores at least 30 to 35 points against this defense that ranks in the bottom half in nearly every category. For this reason, the Four Home Dawgs and the rest of the offense need to be at their best, catch every ball, make every block, and never turn the ball over. If they can score at least 30, they will have a chance, but getting to 30 on this Georgia side will not be easy.
As is their standard MO, the Georgia defense is quite stingy only surrendering 19.7 points per game. This number is inflated due to Tennessee scoring 41 on them and Mississippi scoring 35–both in losses to the Bulldogs. Georgia scored 45 and 41 respectively in those games and clearly know how to score with the best of them.
So, will Mississippi State be able to stop them? And if they can’t–Will they at least be able to keep up with the pace?
The answer will become clear by 2:30 CST on Saturday, but I can guarantee this–the Bulldogs win.
