Improve the Schedule:
When A&M beat Notre Dame and won me over in a major way, Major Way, I looked at the schedule to see when I would get to watch them again. I was looking specifically for the Mississippi and Alabama matchup. To my disappointment, no such matchup was scheduled for this season. A little bit of an oversight if you ask me.
Since A&M have joined the SEC, they have played some tremendous games with both, and in the past, one side was usually better than the other. Now, in the season where Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas A&M are just about equals, they don’t play in the regular season. How does that happen?
Instead, A&M have beaten bad Auburn, bad Miss St, bad Florida, bad Arkansas, bad LSU, with bad Missouri and bad South Carolina still on the schedule. They do get to play Texas at the end, which is a game that should exist every year, but dodge each of the teams that I wanted to see.
Alabama have beaten Georgia and Tennessee so far and still have Oklahoma on the schedule so I can appreciate their team a bit more. However, I would’ve loved for Mississippi or A&M to replace at least one of their scheduled games.
LSU, Tennessee, and Auburn are the only three SEC games on their schedule that make sense. Replace any of the old SEC East teams on their schedule: Vandy, South Carolina, Missouri with Mississippi and A&M and there would be more games worth watching. 5 former SEC East opponents on their schedule. Tradition matters to a guy like me. Whoever the showrunners are these days do not get it whatsoever. Ranked teams on Friday Nights and Alabama missing out on Mississippi and A&M. Let’s improve a bit before next season. If you need help, just ask.
More of the same with Mississippi. They’ve beaten the following bad teams.
- LSU
- Kentucky
- Arkansas
- South Carolina
With bad Florida and bad Miss St still on the schedule.
They’ve had two chances to impress: Lost to Georgia and beat Oklahoma, but again, replace just one of these matchups with Alabama or A&M and this would’ve been a much better schedule.
The opportunities are there to schedule much better games. So, do it and stop trying to sell me that Alabama vs South Carolina/ Vandy/ Missouri are games that matter because they don’t. These are all games a team like Alabama should win every year. We deserve better matchups especially from the conference where “it just means more.”
BETTER MATCHUPS
It’s for these reasons that I’ve put together a few games that I want to watch before the season has been completed. Either in the conference title game or the playoffs, these matchups need to happen. I’d prefer these to be regular season matchups, but that ship has sailed. The Showrunners dropped the ball on it and I’m sure they will be up night’s attempting to correct their egregious wrongs.
Since I’m obviously being sarcastic, these are the following games that this season deserves to see played before it ends.
GAMES that WOULD be MUST WATCH:
- Texas A&M – Mississippi
- Texas A&M – Alabama
- Indiana – Alabama
- Indiana – Ohio St
- Georgia – Ohio St
- Georgia – Texas A&M
- Oregon – Texas A&M
- Oregon- Ohio St
A&M vs Mississippi is the one that I wanted to see the most in the regular season. Massive opportunity missed.

It’s up to the postseason to provide us with these matchups. One can hope; one can dream.
It’s just a game, but it was worth taking twenty minutes to air this out. Too much fodder for the big schools on the schedules. Let’s improve.
