Freshman DB’s are taking the field across the land. Courageous young men taking the field and playing the toughest position on the field at a high level.
Four have stood above the rest when called upon so far…The same four as last time actually.
- Ty Redmond TENN
- 31 Tackles, 6 Pass Defended, 1 TFL, 1 INT
- Messiah Delhomme MD
- 33 tackles, 3 Pass Defended, 2 blocked punts, 1 INT and 1 Fumble Recovery
This past week, he played the majority of snaps at Strong Safety and was in on about sixteen or so tackles from my observations. He’s just everywhere the ball is. Unfortunately, against Indiana, that’s a scary place to be. #33 was up to the challenge.
- Jayden Sanders MICH
- 21 Tackles, 1 PD
- Devin Sanchez OSU
- 9 Tackles, 1 PD, 1 FR
The numbers aren’t the best for Sanchez, but he’s got the grit and courage I like to see.
So, that’s the list. #33 on Maryland leads the line statistically and in the gritty department. I guess you could say he’s the favorite at this point for the inaugural “Fresh McNelly Award.” Only up!
