Chapter 8 is in the books. Not the best week regarding the picks, but it was a very good week overall. After all, it’s about fun, not retiring. I hope you enjoyed Week 8. Further, I hope you faded each of my picks and put a little extra on it to sweeten the deal. The one pick that I hope you did not fade and have paid attention these past weeks is my Sun Belt West nugget I throw in every week. That league has no chance against me. Well, specifically, GA Southern, Georgia St, and Old Dominion. By far and away the most “wrong team favored” league so far this season.

Anyways, kind of a bitter sweet moment regarding the football entertainment the rest of the way. My weekends will be used for different productivity purposes. Maybe you will see something else that’s written by Whit W. in the future. Entertainment will be found elsewhere. I will still catch a game or two every now and again, but for at least the next 4-6 weeks, my Saturday’s will be spent elsewhere. I have the first 7 chapters of the 2024 College Football Story written, with all the drama and conclusions left to unfold, but the details in the back half will be sparse. I’ll still blog here 1-2 times a week, but I will not be watching the action.

So, you can expect a weekly Edinboro update and a brief word about a game or two I saw and a sporadic Arsenal update. Because most of the games are so early in the day, I should still be able to watch the Premier League.

Best of luck the rest of the way in your picks and analysis. We are all experts in our own minds. Who needs another’s opinion?

-1.5 Brigham Young @ UCF this week at 1:30 is must watch. Danger game for the Provo Cougars. UCF and BYU have been two of my favorite teams and this is one I circled weeks ago. BYU knows how to win both low scoring and high scoring games both home and away, so I’m not saying they won’t be up to the challenge to stomp UCF. I am saying that this matchup is tricky. The on-field dark arts will be in play for this one. Players to need to cautious not to lose emotion and get a silly penalty. Both sides. It’s difficult to go perfect in the college football season or anything in life for that matter. Mistakes will be made, losses are bound to take place, and sometimes…things just happen. That said the Cougs are undefeated to this point and only lost one game ATS so far. The odds are in their favor. Early leaning is the betting is 53/47 pct slightly favoring BYU. Gamble responsibly if you do.

As far as the journey towards the Chosen 12 is concerned, no one knows who will be selected, no one knows the order, no one can predict the outcomes to these WILD games. Sit back and let the season unfold. Save yourself from the misery that is predicting the future.

A quick update from the Foothills—Cold snap hit the mountain and frost is covering the treetops. 8” of fresh powder fell 15 minutes from me two days ago, and the upper basins are beginning to fill for the Winter. Deer season opened this past Saturday and every pimple face with a gun and their dad’s truck are scampering the back country hoping to be the next Steven Rinella. No one asks me, so I don’t tell, but I know exactly where a pocket of Mulies are situated on certain days. It’s a hike, but they are there. I love keeping secrets.

Be well, be strong, and from this point forward, the rest of the 2024 College Football Story is up to you.
