- CB Ty Redmond Tennessee
Ty has been having to play due to elite cover corner Jermod McCoy still unable to suit up off of his off-season ACL surgery and starting Cornerback on the other side Rickey Gibson going down injured in Week 1 against Syracuse. Against Georgia this past Saturday, the highly recruited true freshman played a team high 95 snaps and tallied 6 total tackles and one interception.
Ty, 6’2/ 205 attended St Francis High in Alpharetta, GA and chose Tennessee over the likes of Florida, Ohio St, and Texas A&M where he is fitting right in with this young Volunteer team.
He’s officially on the McNelly Freshman of the Year Watchlist an award in its inaugural season that will be presented to the highest performing Defensive Back who also shows leadership qualities. Ty has been steeping up and filling the gaping hole in this young secondary. A true representative of Leander McNelly–stepping up when needed. Only up Ty. Only Up.
Tennessee hosts UAB at 10:45 on the SEC Network. Vols by 45.
