Hometown Tigers

Well done on a great season Hometown Tigers. Not the storybook finish that I may have envisioned back in June, but a great season that is worth appreciating.

Standards are high in Memphis these days and that’s a great thing. Back in the day, when I was still learning to love the Hometown team, getting to an 8th win and bowl eligibility was something worth celebrating. I know at least one that would sport a tender loving smile full of appreciation for her Hometown Tigers for winning 8 games. “Always support the Hometown Tigers.” Yes ma’am.

It remains difficult to be a Memphis Tigers Football fan, but then again, maybe that’s why I find them so dern interesting. I guess if they won every game, it would be easy and who wants easy? Not me. Easy is boring.

The Tigers like to keep things interesting for their fans and keep the intrigue high. Maybe if they had simply gone 11-1 or 12-0, this season would not have been so interesting. Maybe. I doubt it, but maybe. 12-0 would have been legendary. Eight and four will do.

–A quick recap of the season goes like this: 6-0 with a win over Arkansas, to 8-1 with a loss to UAB and a win over USF, to 8-4 with three straight losses to end the season. “My, my, my, my, my what a mess.” -Deputy Gerard.

Yessir, Deputy. The end of the season was quite a mess, but we move on to the next one and we will always love the Hometown Tigers.

9/12/26 at Boise St. We will show our love for the Hometown Tigers once again.

“There is always next season.”- Every Sports Fan at some point
