Morning Dose: 10/11

It’s late morning. Football is on, coffee is in hand, and the fuzzy is snoring. No Round Game this weekend and I’m quite enjoying the break. Slept until nearly 7AM when the furbeast pulled me out of the bed by my big toe. She can be quite demanding when her old bladder gets full. Now she sleeps. The constant whirr of the kitchen dishwasher, the clacking of typing, and the rustling Mulberry Trees out the back window acting as her lullaby.

In the drop-down-den with the games on mute. It’s better that way.

You know that part in “Parks and Rec”? The one when Ron Swanson goes to the local hardware store and is greeted by an employee and he simply responds “I know more than you”–you know that scene? Well, in a way that is me when I watch sports. They’re just better on mute. A few great story tellers still occupy announcer booths occasionally, but they are dwindling. It’s all a performance. Whoops. Lost track.

Let’s get to the football.

Ohio St is playing at Illinois right now.

  • True Freshman Devin Sanchez First Start at Cornerback for Ohio St vs Illinois. Number one rated Corner coming out of High School. Number Five overall 2025 prospect according to 247Sports. North Shore in Houston.
  • Jermaine Mathews usually starting on the outside was at the Nickelback with a tip and then picked by Peyton Pierce. Luke Altmeyer first pick of the season.
  • Ohio St is such an elite team.

It’s 10-0 now, but wow, Ohio St continues to ‘wow’ me. In the preseason they were my national runner-up, and they have done nothing as of yet to make me question that prediction. I mean, this defense is video game cheat mode good. Built like NFL players at every position. Tough and talented. I want more from the QB but that’s it. Everywhere else on the field has played beyond elite.

-Alabama is up 17-7 at Missouri. FBS Leading Rusher Ahmad Hardy 29 yards so far.

-The Bruins are bludgeoning the Spartans in East Lansing 24-7 near half. What an amazing six quarters of football this has been for newly led UCLA….Bruins are threatening again just before half.

-Washington St and Mississippi are nil-nil midway through the first quarter. Should be a friendly win in Oxford for the home team. Hotty Toddy’s are delicious.

There is much more that is happening right now in the world of college football, but that’s what I’m keeping an eye on. It’s a great morning for football.

‘The warm before the storm’ taking place right now. Over 70 degrees right now with a stiff 25 mph South wind. Energetic, turbulent storms are expected across the valley this afternoon and into the evening. Kind of crazy, but the Utes play at 8:15 tonight. The weather in that game could get wild. Although, lightning could be a factor. Like the games above and the weather, we will see how it plays out throughout today.

I’ll be back shortly for another dose.
